William Morris [1834 – 1896] was Britain’s most celebrated designer of the 19th century and a key figure in the Victorian Arts &Crafts Movement. His most famous quote was, ‘Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.’
But he also wrote, ‘‘making tapestries is the noblest of all the weaving arts.' Our tapestry-style Tree of Life throw blanket has the brilliant detail and luscious soft feel that can be achieved only through jacquard weaving. It is truly a woven work of art, so why not hang it on your wall to add vibrant colour, warmth and texture to your room?
Eight miles of premium, colour-fast, pre-shrunk cotton are woven into every Tree of Life throw blanket. Drape your throw over your sofa or bed or use to stay cosy while reading and watching telly. Unlike traditional Irish woollen throws, it can be machine washed and tumble dried and will stand up to years of daily use. In fact, it will only become softer and more welcoming with time.
From a happy customer: "I am very impressed with the quality of your throws. I have recently retired after 40+ years in the textiles business and am giving a gift of eight William Morris throws to my children and siblings to mark my retirement. It is a lovely product."
Photographed in Bantry House, Bantry, County Cork.
